Χειρουργός, Biography, Δρ. Δαρδαμάνης Δημήτριος

Dimitris Dardamanis was born in Athens in 1976. He graduated from the public high school of Kifisia and earned his medical degree from the University of Patras. He completed his surgical residency at the University Clinic of Hippocratio General Hospital in Athens. Concurrently, he obtained a Master of Science in Robotic, Laparoscopic Surgery, and Telemedicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He is currently a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the University of Athens.

In 2010, he was awarded a scholarship by the Hellenic Surgical Society, which enabled him to train at one of the world’s most pioneering surgical clinics, under the mentorship of the internationally acclaimed Professor Guy-Bernard Cadiere, best known for performing the world’s first transatlantic robotic surgery (from Belgium to the USA).

With a subsequent scholarship from the Society of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons, he further specialized in the surgical management of obesity and diabetes, considered by many the “epidemics” of our time.

He continued his training through a scholarship at the Transplant Center of the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. There, he contributed to the establishment of a model center for obesity treatment at Saint Luc Hospital in Brussels.

He was selected by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) for a six-month volunteer mission in Vietnam but, ultimately, chose to continue his professional journey in Belgium for another five years.

In May 2018, he returned to Greece with a personal goal: to complete the Athens Classic Marathon. Through that journey, he connected with fellow parents and athletes from the CGS Triathlon Club. Since then, he proudly juggles three “robotic” roles: Father, surgeon, and triathlete!

Since 2018, he has been an active member of the volunteer organization Symplefsi AMKE, offering healthcare to people in remote areas. He has served as head of the medical team, sponsorship manager, and, since June 2022, President of the Board of Directors (www.symplefsi.org).

He currently practices at IASO General Clinic in Marousi, where he founded the Center for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in 2020.

A passionate triathlete, he is also a board member of the Parents’ Association of CGS School in Pallini.

He believes that every professional, especially in the medical field, should dedicate part of their career to volunteerism. He considers voluntary service not only a moral obligation but also a profound source of personal and professional fulfillment.
